How to wrap a grip tape on a badminton racket?
Share
This short tutorial explains how to properly wrap a grip tape around a badminton racket. Whether you're using a basic grip tape, an overgrip or a terry cloth, this guide will work for all three grip tape variants.
Preparation
- Remove old grip tape: First loosen the adhesive strip and slowly unwind the old grip tape.
- Prepare new grip tape: Remove the protective film from the new grip tape, but only partially peel off the adhesive layer to make handling easier.
Attach grip tape
- Fastening at the beginning: Start at the end of the handle and attach the narrow end of the grip tape. It is wound upwards with a slight overlap (approx. 0.5 cm). Make sure that the grip tape is tight and wrinkle-free.
- Wrap up: Wrap the grip tape evenly up to the butt cap. A greater overlap makes the grip thicker, while a lesser overlap keeps the grip thinner.
- Finishing: Cut off the excess grip tape at the top end at an angle and attach it with the adhesive strip provided.
Finishing
The racket is now ready for use and should fit perfectly in your hand thanks to the new grip.
